Two of the best coaches in the country Bob Hurley (St. Anthony's) and Vanessa Watson (formerly of Malcolm X. Shabazz now coaching at Delaware St. University)

Greetings O.G.,

I am quite sure you won't remember me by the name, Laquan (folks called me Man-Man), but I used to attend almost every zoo crew game back in the day. I used to hang with Fu all the time (that was my best friend/god brother). I played basketball however, I was never the "organized playing" type of guy. Basketball to me was simply recreational. My writing to you however, is not about my lost basketball dreams haha, but I am simply writing to thank you for what you have and continuously, are doing in Newark, NJ. I saw your influence work with Fu firsthand. Of course, the street life influenced him quicker but I am not into disbelieving in folks. I believe that one day he will eventually awake from this traitorous hood mentality that has engulfed many of my friends; like Khalif.

I am going to share something with you that i have never told a soul. Khalif and I had a conversation about my goals one day which was very weird because we have never spoke about things of that matter before. He told me to pursue any and every thing I wanted in life and that "this hood life isn't me" and he considered me one of the "good guys." He told me to write my book and to not forget to add him in there, as he laughed and we walked back down to 2nd St.

I did not intend on writing this much but I also wanted to thank you for influencing me. I did not grow up with any father or mother figures. I simply watched people and took lessons from them; even if they were not intending on teaching me those lessons. While around Fu and present at many of his games,

I watched on as you're passion would reign over that court. You believed in those boys and it sometimes was more than just a game. So I thank you for allowing me to witness that. I hope we can keep in touch. I, myself, one day am planning on coming back to Newark to save our city. I graduated from high school, college and am now I am in my master's program in Chicago. I want to show people that a kid from Newark, NJ can still DREAM.

Thanks a lot for everything and continue to STRIVE!

“The level of service at Zoo Crew Basketball Program is fantastic. With my child having been a participant for many years, I am consistently impressed by the professionalism of every staff member I have come in contact with. Thank you!”

“In this day and age, it’s hard to find a program you can trust. Zoo Crew Basketball Program was recommended to me by a friend, and now I know why – the quality of service my child received was outstanding. Keep up the good work!”

James Savage

"I would like to thank Zoo Crew Basketball for the patience in working with my son who before coming to your program had no idea how to play basketball. You guys never gave up on my son and even though he wasn't the best player on his team, i could see the confidence you guys instilled in him and he gave his best everytime he stepped on the floor. Thanks Zoo Crew."

Tanisha Daniels

"No other program my son has been involved with takes out the time to not just play basketball, but teach the children the right way to play basketball."
